Stuff so far, I have a pair of Akra cans and a decat pipe on the way, The bike came with Helibars which I'm trying out at the mo and originals if I don't like them and it has a tail tidy. It shudders a bit if you open the throttle too much below about 5k, above that it's pure thrust with the front wheel hovering and then you get the shift light. Weird.Īnyway, I seems to need quite a lot of revs to really start feeling powerful and smooth so I was wondering what gearing people go for, I don't usually gear my bikes down as I like a long legged feel and easy cruising at speed, my 04 is on stock gearing and I like it that way but this bike really feels like it needs a smaller front sprocket. This is the opposite to most bikes I've ever owned where I often end up looking for one more at the top. It's going to take a while to get used to the way this big bang thing makes power though, first gear seems very tall, I'm having no problems riding around at 50-60 MPH in first, in fact I keep going to change down only to find there are no more gears down there. I also ride an RC8R so I'm no stranger to torque.

First impressions are OMG this is very different! I've had R1s since buying a new blue one in 1999 and for the last 8 years or so I've been riding an 04. I just bought my first crossplane R1, it's a used bike with only 1600 miles and I've been out today and put another 100 miles on it.
